Unik Articles: George Nnadozie – Redeemed and Adopted = God’s salvation

God’s eternal plan was never the embrace of the law as the way to Him. As much as the law fulfilled its purpose, God never designed it to save mankind, the law showed us the need for a savior. Most importantly, the law wasn’t given to us but to the Children of Israel. We have no business with the law (10 commandments inclusive) and those it was given to couldn’t keep it. The curse and blessings of the law were not for us but for Israelites. The gentiles were not part of the covenant. However, God’s work of salvation didn’t just brought the Israelites out of the law but also brought gentiles into union with God.

The Bible says “having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.” Colossians 2:14 NIV

“Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)—remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the worldNIV- Ephesians 2:11-12 NIV

The law made God a property of Israel, other nations had no right to God. But in Christ Jesus everything changed by His blood! We worship God through the blood of Christ not by the commandment of Moses and if the commandments couldn’t bring us to God, it can’t keep us to God! As the Bible says “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” – Ephesians 2:13 NIV

Our salvation is anchored in Jesus! There is no connection between the commandments of Moses and Christianity… It doesn’t exist!

Our peace is Jesus and not anything of the law. While the law served its purpose, it wasn’t for us and isn’t for us. The law is our enemy, the law was what separated us from God, the law was a hindrance…. There is no way that law could have kept us or brought us closer to God. However, the law died on the cross, the law ended! The law is dead and nonexistent. The Bible says “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace” – Ephesians 2:14‭-‬15 KJV

In Romans 10:4 we also see that Christ is the end of the law, no wonder the law made us enemies of God but Christ made us friends and sons of God. Nobody should be making reference to the law including the 10 commandments as the basis and foundation of having good relationship with God! Christ is the foundation! Yes, the law was a guide to the Israelites, to keep them under subjection till Jesus comes and Jesus was to come from Israel. Jesus had to come from a place where God has given a law so that by meeting all the requirements of the law, sin wouldn’t have anything to hold against Him, making Him the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world!

Both the status of Jews and Gentiles were abolished and God has a made a new man from the two! We now have just one new man which is the “New Creature”, old things are passed away and all things are new! (Col 3:9-11) We’re the express image of the invisible God! Christ is all and in all. In Christ there is neither gentiles, Jews, Igbo, Hausa, White, Black and all of those labels! There is just one “New Creature”… Nothing like the caste system exist in the kingdom of Christ. We approach God on the platform of the blood of Jesus and not on the platform of the law or our performances. There is no relationship between Christianity and the law of Moses, there is no room for comparison. All the dos and donts of Moses are dead on the cross!

People still argue a lot making references to the law but such things are irrelevant! Things like do ladies wear trouser? do ladies make up? Do men wear cap? They are needless, it does not add or remove anything from the believer! No matter what people quote from the laws of Moses, it doesn’t have a place in Christianity! Some religious folks still hold Deuteronomy 22:5 to high esteem, frowning at women who wear trouser but that isn’t what that place is about. Fashion wasn’t the discourse. Even if it was that law is dead and for the sake of argument is that the only law they saw? Being conscious of these things makes you loose concentration. It is a big distraction. Your outward appearance is not God’s business, it may be man’s concerns but never Gods.

Let’s look at the Bible one more time “Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.” – Colossians 2:20‭-‬23 NIV

We no longer belong to this world, neither do we belong to it’s rules! We live our lives in Christ and not by the law! If the law didn’t save us, it can’t keep us. We allow God to carry out His amazing work in us by yielding to the Spirit of God! We’re saved…. Hallelujah!
