Reno Omokri To Finger Pointers: The Church Hasn’t Been Silent On The #EndSARS & #ENDSWAT Campaign
The ongoing campaign against police brutality, the total shutdown of SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) and good governance by the youth of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has got some critics accusing the churches and church leaders of not lending their voice.
Reno Omokri, a lawyer, pastor and aide to the former president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan in his usual manner of truth defended the church and the leaders with a post pointing to different churches, Pastors and how they have influenced the campaign.
He made the post below on his social media platforms;
You are not doing justice to our faith leaders. Even before Bishop TD Jakes tweeted, Pastor @pastoreaadeboy
eofficial, the most respected faith leader in Nigeria, spoke. He did not just tweet, he spoke. He did an Instagram video and warned that if Nigeria does not restructure immediately, we will break up. That took guts. Even our political leaders have not been that bold. I have spoken. Apostle Suleiman not only spoke, he observed a minute of silence for #EndSars at church this Sunday. Pastor Sam Adeyemi and a host of others have spoken. And let me single out Bishop Oyedepo. He has been warning of this day LONG before it happened. On the altar, he mentions General Buhari name, which many Nigerians may not want to do because of the negative consequences. Yet, Oyedepo took that risk. I know Nigerians mean well, but on this I strongly disagree with those who say the church has not been speaking. The church has been speaking and speaking loudly!
In other news this evening, Pastor E.A Adeboye showed much more concern about the movement as he made a tweet with the #EndSARS & #ENDSWAT hashtag. See the tweet below;
